This was really an excellent book. David Moody, a frustrated writer, took to writing his first novel online. His book, "Autumn", is about survivors of an illness (not clear what illness) outbreak that caused most of the living human beings to die. Several days later, the dead rose up again.
The last two books of Susan Cooper's "Dark is Rising" sequence provide high entertainment, magic and adventure!
Susan Cooper's "The Dark Is Rising" sequence was probably the set of books that got my reading interests to change from Joan Aiken to darker children's books, and eventually to adult horror.
I finished Darren Shan's "The Thin Executioner" in a matter of days! It's a rollicking adventure, but more than anything, the book is a social commentary on the death sentence, on bigotry and religious fascism, and on xenophobia.
